The Biggest Mistake Farmers Make in Rise of Kingdoms
Most players think farming means just sending troops to resource tiles and waiting. But farming without a strategy means you'll constantly lose resources to barbarians, enemy scouts, or simply waste your troops' capacity. Here's how to farm smart and keep every resource you gather.
1. Never Leave Your City Unshielded When Full
If your warehouse is full and you have resources sitting in your city, you're a target. Always keep a shield active when you're offline and your storages are near capacity. Resources inside your warehouse are protected — everything above the limit is fair game for attackers.
2. Know Your Warehouse Limits
Your warehouse protects a fixed amount of each resource. Upgrade your warehouse regularly to increase the protected amount. Before going offline, make sure your resources are within the protected limit or spend them on upgrades.
3. Use the Right Gathering Commanders
Using combat commanders for gathering is a waste. Always use dedicated gathering commanders:
- Seondeok – Best all-around gathering commander.
- Cleopatra VII – Excellent for food and wood.
- Constance – Great for stone and gold.
- Ishida Mitsunari – Top-tier for gold gathering.
4. Send Full Marches, Not Half
Always fill your march to maximum capacity before sending troops to gather. A half-full march wastes a trip. Use higher-tier troops for gathering — T4 and T5 troops carry significantly more resources per march.
5. Gather Close to Home
Don't send your troops to tiles far from your city. Long travel times mean fewer gathering trips per day. Prioritize tiles within 2–3 minutes of your city for maximum efficiency.
6. Time Your Gathering Around Events
During MGE and other events, gathering resources counts toward points. Plan your big gathering sessions around these events to double the benefit — you get resources AND event rewards.
7. Use Farm Accounts as Your Main Resource Source
The smartest farmers don't rely on their main account for gathering at all. They use dedicated farm accounts that gather 24/7 and send resources directly to the main city. This keeps your main account free for combat, research, and events while resources flow in automatically.
With 3–5 farm accounts running simultaneously, you can generate tens of millions of resources per day without risking your main account's troops or shields.
8. Send Resources Before Logging Off
If you're using farm accounts, always send all gathered resources to your main account before logging off. Don't leave resources sitting in your farm city — they're not protected the same way.
